One day during the Pandemic I was out photographing streetscapes for my project on life in Halifax. I

had walked by Elsie’s Clothing many times but not being especially interested in fashion had not paid too much attention except to notice how colourful the shop was. Maureen Court, the proprietress, noticed me

on Queen Street and we had a chat. I asked if I could come back some time and have a look inside and

perhaps take some photographs. Thus began a journey. Inside the shop I discovered that Maureen had

created an entire environment with great artistry and imagination.

It was my first foray into clothing and fashion photography. I kind of surprised myself.​ Later I printed a limited run book of these pictures.
